If you are reading
this blog, undoubtedly we are kindred spirits in some form or fashion. I am
coming to you from the top level of an old home built in the 1940s complete
with glass doorknobs, arched breezeways and a grand 'ol porch in the bustling city
of Nashville, TN. I've traveled to almost 20 countries before the age of 25 and
helped lay the communications groundwork for two non-profits. I find joy in the
simplest things: the glow of white Christmas tree lights, anything within
walking distance of my house, sitting around a bonfire with friends, or
spending a Saturday exploring a new town.
I believe that
everyone has a story to share, and that is exactly what I want this blog to be
about – a platform of stories, old and new. I want to encourage people that
life doesn’t have to be days full of rigid schedules and the feeling that
you’ve ‘missed it’. It can be colorful and promising, full of surprises and
sweet aromas of the coming seasons. I’d love for you to join in the
conversation and share your story!
On a professional
note, I have a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of
Georgia and experience working in non-profit public relations, media,
communications, event planning and international leadership. Here are the
organizations I’ve worked for in the past:
-
Wellspring Living, Communications Manager, July 2011 –
September 2012
-
The World Race, Team Leader, July 2010 – June 2011
-
Operation Christmas Child,
Media Specialist, August 2009 – December 2009
If you are a
company or an individual looking for a new communications strategy, I would
love to sit down with you and work out a plan. Email jessmit86@gmail.com and we can set up a
time to chat over coffee and a delectable treat.
